Military leave is unpaid. However, employers are required to reserve a position for the employee and to restore payment, benefits, and applicable seniority upon the employee's return from a military leave of absence.

Military members get 30 days of paid leave per year, earned at the rate of 2.5 days per month. Military leave is a bit different than traditional leave at civilian organizations, partly because it counts weekend days against the balance.Regular leave is approved or denied by the military member's immediate supervisor.

Military Leave: What It Is and How It Works. As part of the military pay and benefits package, military service members earn 30 days of paid leave per year. You start at zero and for every month of military service, 2.5 days of leave get added to your leave account.

You are authorized 1/30 of your basic pay for each day of leave you sell back. You are entitled to sell back a maximum of 60 days leave during your career, you can sell back leave any time you reenlist, extend an enlistment, or when you are discharged.

Military and NOAA members earn 2.5 days of leave for each month of service. Up to 60 days of leave can be banked (accrued) over a two year period, but your leave balance is checked on the first day of the fiscal year (October 1) and any excess leave above 60 days is forfeit.

Cashing In Leave Service members are authorized to sell back their military leave, also known as cashing in their leave, when they are discharged from the military under honorable conditions. 37 U.S. Code § 501. Leave is valued at 1/30 of base pay per day cashed in.

Annual Leave : Active duty Soldiers earn 2.5 days of annual (chargeable) leave for each month of service, for a total of 30 days per year. Currently, Soldiers can bank up to 60 days of leave at the end of the fiscal year.
