A Pennsylvania 236 Notice is an official notice issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (DLI) that informs an employer of an employee's rights under the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act of 1968. This notice is sent to employers when an employee has filed a complaint with the DLI alleging that the employer has failed to pay the required minimum wage or overtime wages. Depending on the nature of the complaint, there are two types of Pennsylvania 236 Notices. The first type is the Wage Complaint Notice, which informs the employer of a pending wage dispute and instructs the employer to respond to the complaint within 15 days. The second type is the Wage Payment Notice, which instructs the employer to pay the employee the disputed wages within 10 days.
