CJA Form 27 Compensation Claim in Excess of the Statutory Case Compensation Maximum is a form used by defense counsel to submit claims for reimbursement for services rendered in cases where the statutory maximum has been exceeded. The form is used for both federal and state cases, and a separate form must be completed for each case. There are two types of CJA Form 27 Compensation Claim in Excess of the Statutory Case Compensation Maximum: 1) Claims for Reimbursement for Services Rendered in Excess of the Statutory Maximum; and 2) Claims for Reimbursement for Services Rendered in Excess of the Statutory Maximum for Death Penalty Cases. The form is used to document defense counsel's services rendered, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses incurred. The form must be accompanied by supporting documentation, such as expense receipts and time sheets.
