The South Dakota Vulnerable Adult Abuse Continuance of Temporary Protection Order Hearing is a type of legal proceeding that takes place when a court has issued a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) in order to protect a vulnerable adult from abuse or exploitation. This hearing is conducted to determine if the TPO should be continued, modified, or terminated, and includes a review of the evidence presented by both the petitioner and the respondent. Depending on the case, there are two different types of South Dakota Vulnerable Adult Abuse Continuance of Temporary Protection Order Hearing: 1) an “ex parte” hearing, where only the petitioner is present; and 2) a “contested” hearing, where both the petitioner and respondent are present.
