Washington Resolution de Disputas (Ward) is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process that provides an efficient and cost-effective solution to the resolution of disputes. It is a voluntary, confidential process, facilitated by a neutral third-party mediator, in which the parties involved in a dispute negotiate a settlement to resolve the issue. Ward is designed to help the parties reach a mutually acceptable resolution without the need to go to court. There are two types of Ward: facilitative mediation and evaluative mediation. Facilitative mediation involves a neutral third party mediator who helps the parties to negotiate the dispute and reach a mutually acceptable resolution. Evaluative mediation is a more directive approach, in which the mediator evaluates the merits of each party's position and offers a solution that could be accepted by both.
