The Virginia Petition to Perform One-Time Religious Marriage Ceremony is a document filed with the Virginia Circuit Court in order to obtain permission to perform a one-time religious marriage ceremony. This document is required for any person or organization that wishes to perform a marriage ceremony outside the usual court process. It is also required for the officiant of the ceremony to be registered with the Virginia Circuit Court. There are two types of Virginia Petition to Perform One-Time Religious Marriage Ceremony: the Petition for Religious Solemnization of Marriage and the Petition for Religious Solemnization of Domestic Partnership. Both petitions require the same information, including the name and address of the officiant, the name and address of the couple getting married, the date and location of the ceremony, the names and addresses of at least two witnesses, and the signature of the officiant. Once the petition is approved, the couple will receive a marriage license from the Circuit Court.
