2.01 EXPLANATORY: DUTIES OF JURY; RECESSES is an important part of the jury duty process. It outlines the duties, responsibilities, and obligations of the jury and the court. It also outlines the rules and regulations for recesses and adjournments. There are two types of recesses: ordered recesses, which are granted by the court, and voluntary recesses, which are taken by the jury. During ordered recesses, the jury is not allowed to discuss the case and must remain in the jury room. During voluntary recesses, the jury is allowed to discuss the case and may leave the jury room. Both types of recesses must be used for the purpose of deliberation only.
