A New York Patent Protective Order (PPO) is a legal agreement that sets out the rules and restrictions for the exchange of confidential documents and information during patent litigation in the State of New York. It is used to protect the confidential information of both parties involved in the litigation, such as trade secrets, know-how, and other confidential information. The PPO is designed to ensure that all parties involved in the litigation are able to access the necessary information without compromising one another’s confidential information. There are two types of New York Patent Protective Orders: Standard and Limited. A Standard PPO provides the broadest protection for confidential information and documents, while a Limited PPO provides more limited protection. The court will decide which type of PPO is appropriate in a particular case.
