The New York Autonomous Vehicle Technology Demonstration/Testing Application is a program administered by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NASDAQ) to allow companies to demonstrate and test autonomous vehicle technology. The program is designed to provide a safe and secure environment to test and demonstrate autonomous vehicle technology while keeping the public safe and informed. The program is open to all companies who meet the requirements of the New York State Autonomous Vehicle Policy. The program consists of two types of applications: Demonstration and Testing. The Demonstration application allows companies to demonstrate their autonomous vehicle technology in a limited and controlled environment. The Testing application allows companies to conduct testing of their autonomous vehicle technology on public roads in New York State. The Demonstration application requires companies to submit a plan to the NASDAQ detailing the proposed test environment, the testing protocols, and the safety protocols to be used during the demonstration. The Testing application requires companies to submit a plan to the NASDAQ detailing the proposed test grounds, the testing protocols, and the safety protocols to be used during the tests. Both applications require companies to submit a Safety Plan and a Financial Plan to the NASDAQ. The NASDAQ will review the submitted plans to ensure that the safety and public welfare of New York citizens is not compromised during the tests. Once approved, companies will be required to submit a report to the NASDAQ detailing the results of the tests. The New York Autonomous Vehicle Technology Demonstration/Testing Application is an important step in the development of autonomous vehicle technology and will help pave the way for safer and more efficient transportation in the future.
