Usually yes, but sometimes no. Temporary restraining orders will appear so law enforcement officers can see it.But if the hearing results in a permanent restraining order, it goes on your record. But even restraining orders that should be expunged sometimes stay in the system longer.

You can file a petition in the county/district where you live or where the abuser lives. If you have fled your home to avoid further abuse, you also have the option of filing the petition in the county/district where you are temporarily living.

Consequences of violating a restraining order include being held in contempt of court; losing child custody or visitation rights; jail time and/or monetary fines; and money damages.

Lifting the Order Typically, either the victim or the defendant can ask the court to lift the restraining order. This is usually completed by filing a motion with the court, such as a Motion to Modify Conditions of Pretrial Release or a Motion to Lift Restraining Order.

N.H. Rev. Stat. § 644:4 Harassment. (e) With the purpose to annoy or alarm another, communicates any matter containing any threat to kidnap any person or to commit a violation of RSA 633:4; or a threat to the life or safety of another.

Once a protective order is in effect against the abuser, it is a crime for the abuser to violate the order. If the abuser knowingly violates a protective order in any way, it is a class A misdemeanor crime. You should report any violations to the police. The police will decide whether to arrest and prosecute him/her.
