FAQ

Get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip and again no more than 3 days before your return flight to the United States departs.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued an Order on January 12, 2021 requiring proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving from a foreign country to the US.

CDC recommends getting tested 1-3 days before your flight AND 3-5 days after your trip AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days.

CDC does not require travelers to undergo a mandatory federal quarantine. However, CDC recommends that unvaccinated travelers self-quarantine after travel for 7 days with a negative test and for 10 days if they don't get tested.

If you test negative for COVID-19, you should still finish your 14-day quarantine period before traveling.

CDC requires all air passengers two years of age or older coming to the United States, including U.S. citizens, to present a negative COVID-19 test result from a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) or antigen test (viral test) conducted no more than 3 days before their flight's departure.

Stay home Stay at home as much as possible. Cancel events and avoid groups, gatherings, and play dates. Limit your trips to the essentials like buying groceries or getting tested if you need to. Know the symptoms.

COVID-19 is still spreading across our Wisconsin communities. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick. We recommend Wisconsinites cancel or postpone all travel, including travel within the state. Everyone should reduce their contact with others by staying home when possible, practicing physical distancing, and being alert for symptoms of COVID-19.

Before departure to the United States, a required test, combined with the CDC recommendations to get tested again 3-5 days after arrival and stay home for 7 days post-travel, will help slow the spread of COVID-19 within US communities from travel-related infections.
