Understanding Your Functional Capacity Evaluation Washington Understanding Your Functional Capacity Evaluation (TWICE) is a comprehensive assessment that evaluates an individual’s physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities to perform work-related tasks. It provides an objective documentation of an individual’s capacity to perform work-related activities. The TWICE is used to assist in making decisions related to return to work, disability, and vocational rehabilitation. The TWICE consists of two parts: the Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE) and the Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE). The PCE evaluates an individual’s physical abilities and includes strength, flexibility, range of motion, and balance tests. The FCE evaluates an individual’s cognitive, psychosocial, and work-related abilities.
