Washington Preferred Worker Request is a program established by the Washington State Legislature to promote the hiring of Washington residents in certain industries and occupations. The program allows employers to request a list of qualified job applicants from the state's Employment Security Department (ESD) in lieu of advertising the job through other means. The ESD then provides employers with a list of qualified applicants who are already authorized to work in the state. There are three types of Washington Preferred Worker Requests: 1. Standard Request: This type of request is for jobs that require a high school diploma or equivalent and/or one year of experience in the job. 2. Experienced Worker Request: This type of request is for jobs that require two or more years of experience in the job. 3. Skilled Worker Request: This type of request is for jobs that require specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities.
