The Washington Preferred Worker Program is a program offered by the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) to provide businesses with access to a pre-screened, pre-certified pool of job seekers. This program is designed to help businesses find qualified workers for their businesses, while providing job seekers with training and career guidance. The program is available to employers in Washington State who are looking to fill positions in a variety of industries, including but not limited to manufacturing, construction, hospitality, healthcare, and retail. There are four types of Washington Preferred Worker Program, including the Preferred Worker Program, Apprenticeship Program, Workforce Development Program, and On-the-Job Training Program. The Preferred Worker Program is designed to match employers with qualified job seekers who have been pre-screened and pre-certified by ESD. The Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide job seekers with on-the-job training and career guidance. The Workforce Development Program is designed to provide job seekers with additional training and career guidance. The On-the-Job Training Program is designed to help employers who are unable to provide job seekers with on-the-job training due to a lack of resources.
