Sec. 1028(A)(4) POSSESSION OF AN IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT, AUTHENTICATION FEATURE, OR FALSE IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT WITH INTENT TO DEFRAUD THE UNITED STATES is a federal law that prohibits individuals from knowingly possessing identification documents, authentication features, or false identification documents with the intent to defraud the United States. This law includes, but is not limited to, possessing an identification document issued to another person with the intent to use it to commit a crime, possessing an authentication feature or false identification document with the intent to deceive another person, or transferring or possessing a document-making instrument with the intent to use it to create false identification documents. Additionally, any attempt to manufacture or produce a false identification document, or traffic in false identification documents, can be punished under this law.
