2.34 Buying, Receiving, Possessing Goods Stolen from Interstate Shipment / 18 U.S.C. Sec. 659 (Paragraph Two) is a federal offense that makes it illegal for any person to buy, receive, possess, or have control over any goods that have been stolen from an interstate shipment. This includes goods that have been stolen from any form of interstate commerce, including air, land, or water shipments. This offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. Additionally, if the stolen goods are worth more than $5,000, the penalties can be increased to up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000.
