Tennessee Initial Workers' Compensation Exemption Registration Renewal for Religious Conscientious Objection is a process by which employers may register to claim an exemption from the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Act based on religious or conscientious objections. This exemption allows employers to provide other forms of compensation to employees in lieu of workers' compensation coverage. There are two types of Tennessee Initial Workers' Compensation Exemption Registration Renewal for Religious Conscientious Objection: (1) Annual Renewal Registration and (2) New Registration. The annual renewal registration is for employers who have already registered to claim a religious or conscientious objection to workers' compensation and need to renew their registration. The new registration is for employers who are registering for the first time. Both require employers to submit an application and provide documentation of their religious or conscientious objection to the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance.
