A Pennsylvania Notice to Defend (Custody) is a legal document issued to a non-custodial parent when a court case is initiated to modify the existing custody arrangement. The notice informs the parent of the court proceedings, and gives them the opportunity to participate in the hearing and provide evidence in their defense. It also includes the date and time of the hearing and the location of the courthouse. There are two types of Pennsylvania Notices to Defend (Custody): Petition to Relocate and Petition to Modify Custody. The Petition to Relocate is issued when one parent wishes to move out of state with the child, and the Petition to Modify Custody is issued when one parent wants to change the existing custody arrangement.
