Oregon Motion to Establish Guardianship is a legal document used in the state of Oregon to formally appoint a guardian for a minor or legally incapacitated adult. The motion is filed in the court of the county where the ward resides. It requests the court to grant a guardian's authority over the ward, and provides the court with information about the proposed guardian, the ward, and the guardianship they are seeking. There are two types of Oregon Motion to Establish Guardianship: General Guardianship and Limited Guardianship. General Guardianship grants the guardian broad authority over a ward’s financial, medical, and personal decisions. Limited Guardianship allows the guardian to make decisions in a limited capacity, such as over a ward’s financial affairs only.
