A North Dakota Partnership Fictitious Name Certificate is a legal document that is filed with the Secretary of State of North Dakota in order to register a business name for a partnership operating in the state of North Dakota. The certificate must include the name of the partnership, the address of the partnership's principal place of business, and the name and address of each partner. The certificate must be signed by each partner and notarized. There are two types of North Dakota Partnership Fictitious Name Certificates: the Initial Fictitious Name Certificate and the Renewal Fictitious Name Certificate. The Initial Fictitious Name Certificate must be filed with the Secretary of State for the business to be registered and the Renewal Fictitious Name Certificate must be filed every five years thereafter in order to keep the business name registered.
