Michigan Consent is a state law in Michigan that requires minors under 18 to obtain permission from a parent, guardian, or court before they can receive medical, mental health, or other health-related treatments. There are two types of Michigan Consent: Informed Consent and Implied Consent. Informed Consent requires that a minor’s parent or guardian provide written permission for medical treatment before the procedure is undertaken. Implied Consent is an exemption to the Informed Consent requirement and allows a minor to consent to treatment without the knowledge of their parent or guardian, provided that the minor is mature enough to fully understand the risks and benefits of the proposed treatment.
