A Maryland Certificate of Publication is a document issued by the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (SEAT) that provides public notice of a business entity's formation. It is often required to obtain certain licenses or contracts and/or to open a bank account. The Certificate of Publication is valid for 90 days from the date it is issued. There are three types of Maryland Certificate of Publication: Corporate Certificate of Publication, Limited Liability Company (LLC) Certificate of Publication, and Limited Partnership Certificate of Publication. The Corporate Certificate of Publication is issued when a corporation is formed in the state of Maryland. The LLC Certificate of Publication is issued when an LLC is formed in the state of Maryland.
