A Maryland Certificate of Publication is a legal document issued by the State of Maryland that is required when a business or other entity is formed in the state. This document is used to provide public notice that the entity is in existence. There are two types of Maryland Certificates of Publication: a Certificate of Publication of a Domestic Entity and a Certificate of Publication of a Foreign Entity. The Certificate of Publication of a Domestic Entity is used to provide public notice of the formation of a business or other entity that is formed in the state of Maryland. The Certificate of Publication of a Foreign Entity is used to provide public notice of an entity that is formed outside of Maryland but is doing business in the state. Both types of certificates must be filed with the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county where the entity is located.
