Description

Uniform Counsel Certification

Massachusetts Uniform Counsel Certification is a voluntary certification program that recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated expertise in the practice of real estate law. Attorneys who become certified must meet certain requirements, including passing an examination and having a minimum of three years of active practice in the field. There are three types of Massachusetts Uniform Counsel Certification: Residential Real Estate Counsel (RCC), Commercial Real Estate Counsel (CCC), and Land Use Counsel (LUCK). To become certified, attorneys must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the areas of real estate law, title examination, title insurance, and closing services. Attorneys must also agree to abide by the Uniform Counsel Code of Conduct, an ethical code that outlines professional standards and practices for attorneys practicing real estate law. Certified attorneys are authorized to use the Massachusetts Uniform Counsel Certification designation after their names, and may be eligible for reduced fees and other benefits.
