Massachusetts Marriage without Delay — Marriagminorno— - Revised July 2007 is a program that allows for minors (under 18) to get married without the need for parental consent. The program is designed to provide a streamlined process with minimal paperwork for minors who want to get married. It includes two types of marriage: (1) Marriage Without Delay, and (2) Marriage of Minor. Marriage Without Delay allows a minor to get married without parental consent if the minor is 16 or 17 years old, has lived in the same county for at least one year, and is in a long-term, committed relationship with the person they wish to marry. Marriage of Minor allows a minor under the age of 16 to get married without parental consent provided they have proof of parental consent from a court. In addition, the minor must meet all the requirements of the Marriage Without Delay program. In both types of marriage, the minor must meet all other legal requirements for marriage in the state of Massachusetts. This includes obtaining a marriage license, having a witness, and having a marriage ceremony.
