The Louisiana Release of Obliged of Record of a Mortgage or Privilege (Non-Paraphed Obligation) La. R.S. 9:5169 is an official document that must be filed by the obliged of record with the Clerk of Court in order to terminate the lien of a mortgage or privilege. This document can be filed in one of two forms: a release by the obliged of record or a release by a third party on behalf of the obliged of record. The release must contain the name of the mortgagor, the name of the obliged of record, the date of the mortgage or privilege, and the book and page number of the mortgage or privilege. The release must also be notarized and signed by the obliged of record or a third party acting on behalf of the obliged of record.
