R.S. 9:5169 is a law that allows a creditor or obliged to discharge a judgment or judicial mortgage or privilege by filing a release with the court. The release must be signed by the obliged and contain the name, address, and telephone number of the obliged. The release must also contain the date of the judgment, a statement that the obligation has been paid, and the signature of the obliged.
