Kentucky CJA 31 Death Penalty Proceedings: Ex Parte Request for Authorization and Voucher for Expert and Other Services is a procedure used for death penalty cases in the state of Kentucky. This procedure allows an attorney to request authorization and a voucher for expert and other services without being required to notify opposing counsel. The requesting attorney must provide a detailed description of the services requested, including the purpose of the services and the identity of the expert, as well as the amount of compensation requested. There are two types of Ex Parte Request for Authorization and Voucher for Expert and Other Services: one for services related to the defense of the accused and one for services related to the prosecution of the accused. The defense version of the request must be approved by a judge in order to be valid. The prosecution version of the request must be approved by both the judge and the prosecutor.
