The Illinois Order of Parentage is a legal order issued by a court to establish the legal relationship between a child and his or her parents. It is used to determine parental rights, obligations, and responsibilities. The order includes the child's name, parent's name, and relationship to the child, as well as any legal rights and responsibilities assigned to the parents. There are two types of Illinois Order of Parentage: the Voluntary Acknowledgement of Parentage and the Adjudicated Order of Parentage. The Voluntary Acknowledgement of Parentage is an agreement signed by both parents that establishes the parent-child relationship. The Adjudicated Order of Parentage is a court order that establishes paternity if the father is not listed on the birth certificate. The Adjudicated Order of Parentage also includes an order to pay child support, if applicable.
