The Illinois application for Membership in the Criminal Justice Act Lead Panel (CJ ALP) is an application form for attorneys who wish to be considered for membership on the CJ ALP. The CJ ALP is established to provide representation to individuals who are unable to afford representation in criminal proceedings. The application form includes information such as the applicant’s qualifications, experience, and references. The applicant must also provide a statement of commitment to the CJ ALP and to the principles of the Criminal Justice Act. The State of Illinois has two types of applications for CJ ALP membership: the standard application and the limited application. The standard application is for attorneys who have at least one year of criminal defense experience in Illinois. The limited application is for attorneys who have less than one year of criminal defense experience in Illinois. Both applications require the same information, which includes the applicant’s contact information, qualifications, experience, references, and statement of commitment. The applicant must also submit a fee of $50. Upon completion of the application, the applicant will be contacted for an interview.
