An Iowa Notice of Appeal is a document used to formally file an appeal with the Iowa Supreme Court or the Iowa Court of Appeals. It notifies the court of the parties involved in the case as well as the legal basis for the appeal. There are two types of Iowa Notice of Appeal: a Notice of Appeal from a District Court and a Notice of Appeal from an Agency. The Notice of Appeal from a District Court is used when appealing a decision made by a district court judge. The Notice of Appeal from an Agency is used when appealing a decision from an administrative agency such as the Iowa Department of Human Services or the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Both types of appeals must include the date of the decision being appealed, the name of the court or agency, the name and mailing address of the appellant, the name and mailing address of the appealed, and the legal basis for the appeal.
