Hawaii General Consent To Adoption is a legal document that is used when the parent(s) of a minor child wish to voluntarily give up their parental rights in order to make way for an adoption. It is also used to consent to the transfer of the custody of a minor child to the Department of Human Services. There are two types of Hawaii General Consent to Adoption: Limited Consent and Full Consent. Limited Consent is used when the parent(s) wish to retain some level of parental rights, such as the right to receive notice of adoption proceedings and to visit the child. Full Consent is used when the parent(s) are fully relinquishing their parental rights and giving up all contact with the child. Both forms require notarization and the signature of the parent(s) in order to be valid.
