Alaska Request to Register Child Custody Order of Another State or Country is a formal request to the Alaska court system to recognize and enforce a child custody order from another state or country. This process is sometimes referred to as “registration.” It is important to note that in Alaska, registration is not the same as enforcement of a child custody order. The registration process is simply an administrative step to make the child custody order from another state or country legally valid in Alaska. There are two types of Alaska Request to Register Child Custody Order of Another State or Country. The first is an Initial Registration of a Foreign Child Custody Order. This type of registration is used when an out-of-state or foreign child custody order is being registered for the first time in Alaska. The second type of Alaska Request to Register Child Custody Order of Another State or Country is a Renewal of an Existing Foreign Child Custody Order. This type of registration is used when an existing out-of-state or foreign child custody order is being renewed in Alaska. In order to successfully register a child custody order from another state or country, the following documents must be filed in the appropriate court in Alaska: a certified copy of the foreign child custody order; a verified registration statement; a registration notice; a verification of service; and a motion for registration. Once the documents have been filed, the court will review the request and either grant or deny the registration.
