To register a snowmobile the owner must: Provide previous NH snowmobile registration OR the following vehicle information: year of manufacture, make, model, displacement, primary and secondary colors, and VIN. Snowmobiles are not titled in NH – no title, bill of sale or previous registration required.
New Hampshire Snowmobile Insurance Requirements All New Hampshire snowmobiles registered on any trail or area other than the owner's private property must carry liability insurance. This coverage protects against claims for bodily injury or property damage caused by the snowmobile operator.
For vehicles with a model year of 1999 or older you will need a bill of sale from the seller to the buyer, signed by the seller, AND one of the following documents: A.A prior owner's previously issued NH registration (out-of-state registration is not acceptable).
The original owner's Bill of Sale and sales tax receipts from all subsequent transfers between individuals, and; A form DTF-802 (Statement of Transaction - Sale or Gift of Motor Vehicle, All Terrain Vehicle, Vessel, or Snowmobile) signed by the buyer.
The state of New Hampshire does not title Off Highway Recreational Vehicles or snowmobiles nor does it maintain any records of title or liens on these types of vehicles. A title, bill of sale or previous registration is not required to register an Off Highway Recreational Vehicle or snowmobile.
(4) 20 miles per hour on plowed roads on department of natural and cultural resources property open to snowmobile operation. (5) 35 miles per hour on all trail connectors. (6) 45 miles per hour when operating a snowmobile on any approved snowmobile trail.
The new owner must go to the DMV with the acceptable proof of ownership and a bill of sale. A bill of sale alone is not acceptable as proof of ownership without a title or transferable registration.
