Armed Postal/U.S. Property Robbery 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2114(a) is a federal crime which involves the unlawful taking of money or property of the United States Postal Service, or any other property used or held by the U.S. government. This crime is punishable by a fine, imprisonment, or both. There are two types of Armed Postal/U.S. Property Robbery 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2114(a): Simple Robbery and Armed Robbery. Simple Robbery occurs when someone takes money or property of the U.S. Postal Service or U.S. government without using a weapon. Armed Robbery occurs when someone uses a weapon such as a firearm or knife to take money or property of the U.S. Postal Service or U.S. government.
