Admission to UMD is competitive. We typically receive over 58,000 applications for a fall freshman class of approximately 4,800. As a result, we are unable to offer admission to all students who have the ability to be academically successful at the university.
With a GPA of 4.45, University of Maryland requires you to be at the top of your class. You'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants. You should also have taken plenty of AP or IB classes to show your ability to excel in academic challenge.
