How to Pass the Accuplacer Writing Test Ability to focus on a given topic and write with clarity and purpose for a targeted audience. Ability to apply critical-thinking skills and express a point of view. Ability to organize and connect/transition between ideas and information logically and sequentially.
Scores on the WritePlacer range from 1 to 8. An essay will be given a score of zero if it is too short to be evaluated, written on a topic other than the one presented, or written in a language other than English. Students with a score of 5, 6, 7, or 8 are placed into ENG 100.
A high school GPA of 2.6-2.99 or a score of “4” on the Writeplacer or ENG Department Writing Sample Test means that you are able to take ENG 1010 but that you will need additional support to succeed in this class. Carefully review the two options below and choose the one that best meets your needs.

A score of 5 is a common choice for institutions when establishing a cut score for a college- level English course.
Official transcript should be submitted by your counselor. If the counselor submits online, the transcript should be attached to your school forms. Otherwise, transcripts should be sent directly to the schools to which you are applying. Please contact each admissions office for the exact address or procedure.
If you have not been present in class during the last 10 days, please know that after 14 days of non-attendance, your registration status will be changed to "Registered but Not Attending." This means your instructor or the College may withdraw you from the class.
