Wisconsin Summary Settlement is a process in which the parties to a civil dispute can reach a settlement and avoid a lengthy trial. This is done by submitting a summary settlement agreement that is reviewed and approved by a judge. This agreement is binding and can be enforced in court. There are two types of Wisconsin Summary Settlement: voluntary and court-ordered. Voluntary Summary Settlement is when both parties agree to the terms of the settlement and sign the agreement. Court-ordered Summary Settlement is when the court orders the parties to reach a settlement and submit the agreement for review. In either case, the judge will review the agreement and make sure it is fair to both parties before approving it.
