Washington Youth in Construction (WIC) is a statewide program that provides job training and career exploration opportunities to youth ages 16-24 in the construction industry. The program focuses on helping young people gain the skills and experience necessary to pursue a career in the construction trade, and provides resources and support to both employers and job seekers. WIC offers a variety of services, including job readiness training, job search assistance, hands-on job experience, and career exploration. WIC also provides employers with resources to recruit and retain qualified youth employees. There are two types of Washington Youth in Construction: the Washington Youth Build Program and the Washington Youth Apprenticeship Program. The Washington Youth Build Program focuses on providing construction job training and career exploration for youth ages 16-17. The Washington Youth Apprenticeship Program focuses on providing youth ages 18-24 with the opportunity to gain paid work experience in the construction trade.
