Washington Order of Dependency — Extended Foster CareCODECFC) is a program that provides long-term, out-of-home care and supportive services to youth who have been in the foster care system for at least five years and who are between the ages of 18 and 21. The program is designed to help this youth transition into adulthood with the necessary skills and resources for a successful future. There are three different types of CODEC placements: Independent Living Services, Transitional Living Services, and Supported Living Services. Independent Living Services are designed for youth who are serious about becoming self-sufficient and are ready to live independently. Transitional Living Services are for youth who are not yet ready to live independently, but who can benefit from additional support and services. Supported Living Services provide the most intensive level of care for youth who need more assistance in order to reach their goals.
