Washington Confirmation of Service is a process used by the Washington State courts to ensure that court documents are properly served on the appropriate parties. This is done by having the person serving the documents submit an affidavit and certificate of service to the court. There are two types of Washington Confirmation of Service: personal service and substituted service. Personal service requires the person serving the documents to hand deliver them to the person they are intended for. Substituted service requires the person serving the documents to deliver them to an alternate recipient, such as an adult living in the same home, or by placing the documents in the mail addressed to the person to be served. Both types of service require the person serving the documents to submit an affidavit and certificate of service to the court.
