A Vermont Certificate of Retention of Debtor in Possession (CORD) is a document issued by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation to a debtor who is in possession of certain financial assets or debts. The purpose of the certificate is to ensure that the debtor can continue to use the assets or debts for a period of time while they are in possession, as opposed to having to make immediate payment to creditors. The certificate is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. There are two types of Vermont Certificate of Retention of Debtor in Possession: 1. Unsecured CORD: This is used when the debtor has unsecured debts or assets. 2. Secured CORD: This is used when the debtor has secured debts or assets.
