Utah Sexual Offense Prior Conviction is a law that requires individuals convicted of certain sexual offenses to register with the Utah Department of Corrections upon release from prison/correctional facility. The types of sexual offenses that require registration are rape, object rape, forcible sodomy, forcible sexual abuse, aggravated sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated exploitation of a minor, and aggravated kidnapping with the intent to commit a sexual offense. The purpose of this law is to provide notification to the public of the presence of a convicted sex offender in their community. The registration must be renewed annually, and the individual must report any change of address or employment.
