8.34 Passing Forged Endorsement on Treasury Check, Bond or Security of United States (18 U.S.C. Sec. 510(a)(2)) is a federal crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison. This crime occurs when someone knowingly passes a forged endorsement on a U.S. Treasury check, bond or security. There are two types of 8.34 Passing Forged Endorsement on Treasury Check, Bond or Security of United States (18 U.S.C. Sec. 510(a)(2)) offenses: 1. Passing a forged endorsement on a U.S. Treasury check, bond or security with the intent to defraud the United States. 2. Possessing a U.S. Treasury check, bond or security with a forged endorsement with the intent to pass it. The punishment for this crime will depend upon the amount that was involved, as well as any prior criminal history the defendant may have. Additionally, a person convicted of this offense may also have to pay restitution to the U.S. Treasury.
