17.12 Copyright Interests -Assignee is the legal transfer of rights and interests in a copyright from one person to another. It is generally done through a written contract, and the assignee will then have the right to exercise the copyright as if it were their own. There are two types of assignments: an exclusive assignment and a non-exclusive assignment. An exclusive assignment grants the assignee the sole right to exercise the copyright, while a non-exclusive assignment allows the assignor to retain some rights to the copyright.
