4.04 Definition of "Disability" refers to the legal definition of disability in the context of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Under this definition, a person has a disability if they have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. The ADA also includes a list of major life activities including, but not limited to, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, working, and learning. Additionally, individuals who have a history of such an impairment, or are perceived to have such an impairment, are also covered under this definition. There are different types of disabilities, including physical disabilities, mental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, sensory disabilities, and developmental disabilities.
