18 U.S.C. Sec. 2252A(A)(2)(A) is a federal law prohibiting the receipt or distribution of child pornography. This law applies to any visual image, digital image, or any other reproduction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The term “minor” is defined as any person under the age of 18. There are three types of child pornography prohibited under this law: 1. The possession, production, or distribution of child pornography; 2. The receipt, distribution, sale, or exchange of child pornography; and 3. The possession or distribution of materials that contain visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The penalties for violating 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2252A(A)(2)(A) are severe, and can include significant fines and prison sentences of up to 20 years.
