This law applies to anyone who uses or carries a firearm during the commission of any felony that is punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. This includes felonies such as drug trafficking, robbery, burglary, terrorism, and assault with a deadly weapon. There are two types of charges under this law: (1) the use of a firearm during the commission of a drug trafficking crime or crime of violence, and (2) the carrying of a firearm during the commission of a drug trafficking crime or crime of violence.
