A Texas Request For Issuance (RFI) is a document issued by the State of Texas that can be used to request the issuance of any type of certificate, including birth, marriage, divorce, or death certificates. An RFI is a form that must be filled out by the applicant and submitted to the applicable state agency. The form is available online and must be printed out and mailed or delivered in person to the applicable agency. The two main types of Texas Request For Issuance are Standard Request and Expedited Request. The Standard Request is used to request a certificate without an expedited timeframe and can take up to 10 weeks to process. The Expedited Request is used if a certificate is needed within 2 weeks and costs an additional fee.
