A South Carolina Bench Warrant is a court order issued by a judge which requires a person to appear in court. This type of warrant is issued when a person fails to appear at a court hearing or otherwise violates a court order. It authorizes law enforcement to arrest the person and bring them before the court. There are two main types of South Carolina Bench Warrants: Failure to Appear Warrants and Contempt of Court Warrants. Failure to Appear Warrants are issued when a person fails to appear in court for a scheduled hearing, while Contempt of Court Warrants are issued when a person violates a court order such as failing to pay a fine or failing to comply with the terms of a probation order.
